Job Title: Reptile General Manager

Location: Limpopo, South Africa

We’re on the hunt for a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead the team at one of South Africa’s premier reptile conservation facilities. The team you will be joining:

Hoedspruit Reptile Centre is a conservation-focused facility in Hoedspruit, Limpopo, dedicated to educating the public about reptiles and their habitats, offering interactive experiences and promoting awareness of wildlife preservation.

Who we need: We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications: ​ Outstanding organisational and planning abilities Experience managing a zoo (herpetology department) In-depth knowledge of reptile husbandry and welfare Proficient financial planning skills Exceptional scheduling capabilities Human resources or strong people management skills Must be outgoing and extroverted Attention to detail with a commitment to perfection ​ Your responsibilities: ​ Maintain a comprehensive understanding of every facet of the facility Oversee all animal welfare and husbandry Manage the animal collections Administrative duties; ensuring all record systems are up-to-date Occasionally conduct various tours and training (public) People/team management Design and implement in-house training for staff & volunteers Manage the volunteer programme Conduct regular inspections of all areas of the zoo Manage equipment and consumables stock ​ ​ What we need from you: ​ South African Residency, living in Hoedspruit Minimum of 5 years experience in a senior zoo management role South African driver’s licence and own vehicle Sober habits ​ Remuneration is to be discussed upon application. ​ Send CV and cover letter to: chris@hoedspruitreptilecentre.com ​ Applications now open: 4 December 2024 Closing date for applications: 22 December 2024

Job Title: Social Media Volunteer 

Want to travel abroad and join our wildlife vets working around the world? Passionate about wildlife conservation and animal welfare? Social media rockstar with a creative flare?
