Rhino conservation
Africa’s rhino populations are under constant threat from poaching and human-wildlife conflict. At Worldwide Vets, we are dedicated to rhino conservation and veterinary intervention in Namibia and South Africa, using cutting-edge techniques to protect these iconic animals.
With your support, we can continue painless dehorning, emergency rescue operations, and vital veterinary care to ensure the survival of rhinos in the wild. Poachers kill rhinos for their horns, but a painless and humane dehorning procedure can remove this incentive and save lives. Our experienced veterinary team:
-
Darts and immobilizes rhinos safely using specialized sedatives.
-
Uses precision equipment, such as chainsaws, to remove the horn without harming the animal.
-
Monitors the rhino’s recovery and releases them back into the wild, reducing their risk of poaching.
By donating today, you can help fund these procedures, protecting rhinos from becoming the next victims of the illegal wildlife trade.

Snare Removal and Emergency Veterinary Care
Rhinos and other wildlife often become trapped in poachers’ snares, leading to horrific injuries. When called upon, our team:
-
Responds swiftly to rescue and treat injured rhinos.
-
Performs emergency veterinary procedures to remove snares, clean wounds, and administer medication.
-
Provides long-term monitoring to ensure full recovery and reintegration into the wild.
Your donation helps us provide essential medical supplies, fuel for our field vehicles, and lifesaving veterinary expertise.

Collaborating for a Safer Future
Every year around July to September you will find our team on the ground carrying out even more work than normal, running one week missions to reach the most at risk animals in need of help. We often do this with an international team of vets and nurses that come and provide their support from USA and Europe. If you want to get involved and actually join us on the ground, head over to our volunteer page and check the Rhino Dehorning Mission.
Worldwide Vets always works closely with local reserves, anti-poaching units, and government wildlife agencies to create a sustainable future for rhinos. Through community education and conservation efforts, we ensure that dehorned rhinos are monitored and protected, giving them the best chance to thrive.
How You Can Help
Rhino conservation is expensive, and we rely on compassionate individuals like you to continue our work. Here’s how you can make a difference:
-
Donate Today – Every contribution helps fund veterinary supplies, transport, and emergency response efforts.
-
Fund a Dehorning Procedure – Sponsor a full dehorning to directly protect a rhino from poachers. We can run a whole mission in your or your companies' name, providing live updates, photos and media collaborations. For those who love travel, you can also join us for the work!
-
Support Our Veterinary Team – Join us in Africa and carry out the work with us. Your volunteer fee helps us run the entire mission and help more rhino each year.

Volunteer
Once a year we run an outreach mission so you can help us dehorn rhino. To discover more about our Rhino Dehorning Mission, follow the button below. Vets, nurses and clinical year vet students, or donors who, with advance planning wish to fund a dehorning mission, can join our team on a week long course about rhino care, management and medicine whilst you help with an exciting dehorning mission. This is ideal for anyone wanting to support conservation, and develop clinical knowledge and skills around megaherbivore medicine. This mission is not just a RACE accredited training course; it’s an experience that connects participants to the broader concepts of wildlife conservation, immerses them in the African wilderness, and fosters a sense of unity among those who share a passion for preserving the world’s rhino population.
