2023 Recap: A Landmark Year for the India Vet Clinic


Reflecting on 2023, the India Vet Clinic team is proud to share an eventful and impactful year dedicated to animal welfare and conservation. Based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, this non-profit organization has continued to provide free medical treatment and care to stray animals and birds, while also spreading awareness and education through various initiatives. Here’s a detailed recap of the clinic's achievements and activities throughout the year.

 

Tremendous Achievements in Animal Care


This year, the India Vet Clinic successfully completed 339,693 treatments. The dedicated team treated

a total of 75,476 animals, 259,894 birds, and 4,323 infant animals and birds. Their care extended to a wide range of species, including dogs, cats, goats, cows, buffaloes, horses, blue bulls, monkeys, rabbits, turtles, tortoises, snakes, bats, squirrels, monitor lizards, pigeons, doves, crows, Indian black kites, rose-ringed parakeets, barn owls, shikras, peacocks, pond herons, pelicans, flamingos, and many more.

 

Key Highlights of 2023

 

January: Uttarayan Save Birds Campaign


The year began with the ‘Uttarayan Save Birds Campaign,’ the largest bird-saving initiative during the kite-flying festival. The deadly kite thread, often coated with glass, causes severe injuries to birds. During this campaign, the clinic treated over 4,000-5,000 injured birds, aiming to save avian lives and maintain ecological balance.

 

February: Kamdhenu Hug Day


In February, while the world celebrated Valentine’s Day, the Clinic celebrated ‘Kamdhenu Hug Day.’ Volunteers visited various cow shelters, feeding and hugging the cows, and spending quality time with them to show love and care.

 

March: World Veterinary Day


March saw the clinic celebrating ‘World Veterinary Day,’ recognizing the dedication and hard work of veterinarians worldwide. This day allowed the clinic to honor the professionals who are crucial to their mission.

 

April: Oral Rehydration Camp


April was dedicated to the ‘Oral Rehydration Camp’ for stray animals and birds. The clinic spread awareness about the importance of water for all living beings and shared tips on how to help animals and birds during the hot summer months.

 

May: Talk to Vet about Your Pet


In May, the clinic conducted the ‘Talk to Vet about Your Pet’ campaign. This roadshow allowed pet parents to consult the veterinarians for free, addressing any queries or concerns about their pets. The doctors provided valuable guidance and support, ensuring better care for pets.

 

August: Tortoise Release


August marked a significant milestone with the release of 18 fully recovered tortoises back into the wild. This was the largest tortoise release of the year, symbolizing the clinic's commitment to wildlife conservation.

 

September: Collaboration with Kamdhenu University


September was a pivotal month as the clinic collaborated with ‘Kamdhenu University,’ a government veterinary college, for research and development in the field of animal welfare. This partnership aims to advance knowledge and improve care strategies.

 

October: Paryavaran Shantri Puraskar


In October, the Clinic was honored with the ‘Paryavaran Shantri Puraskar’ for its active contribution to the environment and the ecosystem. This prestigious award recognized the clinic's relentless efforts in environmental conservation.

 

December: Workshop on Avian Care & Management


The clinic concluded the year with a unique two-day workshop titled ‘New Horizons in Birds Conservation & Critical Care Management.’ This workshop, aimed at veterinarians, vet students, and forest officers, offered an enriching experience with insights into avian care and management. The event was well-attended by professionals and enthusiasts alike.
